Why “satori”?
“Satori” is a Japanese Buddhist term that literally means “understanding.” In the Zen tradition, "satori" refers to a flash of sudden awareness or insight. SATORI Consulting Group aspires to facilitate just that for our clients: from a flash of awareness, to true insight to deep understanding of consumer & shopper.
Another cool Japanese concept is “sei-katsu-sha”. It means “living person,” a holistic view of a human being with his or her mind, body, psyche, culture, lifestyle, emotions, desires, intellect and behavior. While we aim at understanding shopping and consuming behavior through modern neuro insights, we always look at the whole person in the context of culture and environment.

The founder of SATORI Consulting Group, Lana Novikova, is creating her own version of a 4-hour workweek. She aspires to have a balanced sustainable lifestyle while building a boutique international consulting practice that can touch the lives of people in small or large transformational ways. Lana’s powerful vision is a synthesis between old and new, rational and emotional, science and art, left and right brain, mind and heart. Lana is a market researcher and a psychotherapist with a passion for applying neuroscience in her work. She has over ten years of CPG market research experience (both client and supplier side), a strong portfolio of research innovations, and a post-graduate degree in Marketing Communications. Among her life practices are hot yoga, mindfulness, deep listening, volunteering, and meeting deadlines. Born and raised in Asia (the USSR), educated in the US, she has been living in Toronto, Canada for over 12 years.
